What is a role?
Those of us accustomed to thinking of doing work using formal processes are well aware of the concepts of roles. A role is an abstraction of the individuals or organizations that habitually perform certain activities. Not only does a role describe what a person does habitually, it also describes what they are supposed to do. The principle advantage of thinking in terms of roles is to allow a single process definition to be easily applied to many contexts and organizations.
